Why Am I so Committed?

It’s Genetic” and “You’ll have to worry about this as you grow up.” That’s what I was told when I was a kid, after losing grandparents, aunts, and uncles to early deaths from “hereditary” diseases. Well-meaning adults in our lives have programmed us to think that staying healthy had to be hard. I refused to accept that as my reality.

I was always a hard worker, but I also loved my freedom, so I fought the idea of being boxed into rules that felt confining or crappy. When I started to focus on my own health, I realized there were rules in the game, but knowing I need a feeling of freedom at all times, I had to approach fitness in a way that made everything fun and simple.  I had a hard time sticking to goals because of my lack of consistency, but I was always able to “get by,” so I was still able to work out, eat what I wanted and still look credible as a trainer because I was helping people get results.

Slapped into a rude awakening, I was hit by a car while riding my bike. I could have died, but fortunately, I lived through it. However, for three months, I lost the use of my knees,  and I was forced to realize that fitness was not just about getting by.

It took a shift of my perspective to make a shift upward in my health and my life as I recovered, and that’s how I came up with the SHIFTin60 Method

I was sick of all-or-nothing approaches that meant perfection or crashing. I asked myself how I could get back to health, strength, and ultimately, my happiness while still maintaining the freedom in my life that is so important to me. So, for 60 days, I committed 15 minutes a day to discover the steps that were necessary to go from being a reactor to a creator in my life.
